Don’t Neglect That Toothache
The pain of a toothache can be really irritating. In fact, when you have a toothache, it’s sometimes hard to think of anything else. But, even with all the pain and annoyance, many people are inclined to take a pain pill and get on with life.
But, neglecting a toothache can be trouble. There are many different reasons for toothaches, and some can be serious. When we neglect to determine the cause of the toothache, and getting treatment for it; we risk serious dental and health problems.
So, here’s what you should do if you have a toothache
1. Determine if the toothache requires emergency dental care. If there is a serious infection with symptoms such as puss and bleeding; get to an emergency dentist right away. In addition, if you have a broken or chipped tooth, you should see a dentist right away.
2. If your toothache is not caused by a serious infection or a broken tooth, make an appointment with your dentist for the next day or two. Even though the problem doesn’t require immediate attention, the toothache should still be diagnosed and treated.
3. Use one of these home remedies to relieve your pain and potentially begin the healing process.
- Rinse with salt water to dislodge food, help heal infection and relieve pain. Or, rinse with 3% hydrogen peroxide or with whiskey. Whichever agent you choose for rinsing; do not swallow.
- Dab vanilla extract or clove oil on the painful area.
Both of these all natural methods can help relieve the pain of a toothache without the use of medicines. You can use them as often as needed to keep the pain at bay until you can visit the dentist.
Once you’ve had a toothache, you’re certain to want to prevent them in the future. The best way to do this is by ensuring that your oral hygiene routine is sufficient to kill the bacteria that lurk in your mouth.
You see, overgrown bacteria are really the primary culprit in dental problems. When bacteria are not removed daily, it grows and creates plaque on the teeth. This plaque can lead to tooth decay and is the cause of gingivitis, which is the precursor to gum disease.
Most of your dental problems can be prevented by ensuring that you kill the bacteria in your mouth regularly. All natural dental hygiene products made primarily with oil of mint are the best way to take care of those bacteria naturally.
Commercially manufactured dental products are not as effective at removing bacteria as all natural, mint based products like OraMD. OraMD can be used as both toothpaste and mouthwash, making your dental hygiene routine simpler while making it more effective.
So, don’t neglect your toothache, since it could be something serious. And, don’t neglect your oral hygiene routine either, since a good dental care routine can prevent those toothaches in the future.
