Determining the cause and treatment for loose teeth
People who experience dental problems like loose teeth should be concerned of its effects and outcome. When ignored, it could cause a lot of serious problems and complications to your body. When in doubt, you should immediately visit a dentist. So basically, what causes loose teeth? This condition is a result of different situations; some are caused by external forces such as trauma, injury and accidents. Other reasons are caused by internal factors affecting the tissues that surround and hold the teeth in place.
Gum disease is one of the reasons starting internally within the mouth. Gum infection is basically caused by plaque that builds up in the gum line. Food particles trapped in the mouth and in between the teeth not removed after every meal will start to accumulate and form plaque. The plaque then reacts with the saliva and settles on the edge of the gum line. As time goes by and you let this accumulate, it will become heavier and will create a gap or space between the gums and the teeth.
Another reason that can cause loose teeth is malocclusion. This is the term used to describe bad bite or when the teeth meet in a wrong way during the process of grinding food inside the mouth. When extra stress is constantly exerted by the teeth, this will cause the surrounding bones to eventually become thin. Once this happens, the teeth can lose its firm grip to the gums and may eventually fall off due to weakened grip.
To properly treat loose teeth, it is important to know the cause of the problem. If it caused by a particular gum disease, treating the gum disease can often resolve the problem. Once the gum problem has been resolved, the teeth are now able to go back to its normal grip to the gums. On the other hand, the teeth that are loosened because of bad bite can be treated by a dental professional. The process of orthodontic treatment is performed by a dental health professional in order to firm up the teeth caused by bad bite.
Whatever the cause of the loose teeth, you should always remember to consult your dentist. Killing bacteria and fixing loose teeth is available and they can recommend solutions to maintain a healthy and clean mouth. For personal treatment and oral care, it is important to keep your mouth clean at all times. Proper oral care and hygiene can be done so that any gum problem and loose teeth can be prevented.
